Lead the country Medical Team, develop the Medical Strategy and executes it through and operational Medical Plan, aligned with cross-functional strategy and CSO oversite. Coach and develop team members as well as represent Medical in country Leadership Team. Represents voice of medical community within Novartis and ensures the best interest of patients and caregivers are met. Efficiently and effectively deploys resources to support the goals of the organization; oversees all strategic and operational medical affairs activities in country, including develops and manages long-term relationships with key external stakeholders as a key element of medical strategy.
Focus on strategically prioritized pipeline early launch preparations, leading cross-functional alignment optimizing patient access and outcomes, by providing compound and disease area medical expertise, shaping and implementing local pipeline strategy through innovative integrat-ed evidence generation, engagement on scientific results with internal and external stakehold-ers, and co-creation with healthcare systems and the scientific community. Oversees all pre-launch activities ensuring timely and quantitative execution and also the design, conduct and publication of local clinical and RWE activities and drives development of publica-tion/communication strategy. Ensures Tone from the Top on Compliance and Integrity in every aspect of professional interactions and activities.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

  • Act as a role-model for Novartis Culture by leading inspiring and curious teams, being aware of the impact on team and business, while igniting agility and strive towards digital savviness within the team.
  • Coach, motivate and develop Team members according to agreed development areas.
  • Foster a collaborative environment & Remove obstacle so that the team works faster, easier and more effectively
  • Being a strong cross functional partner and provide direction and advice to the team including setting goals and managing performance (vs Medical & Franchise objectives)
  • Ensure optimal collaboration with Medical Governance Team in the execution of relevant clinical activities including in the design of GxP projects, selection of investigators, start-up and initiation activities, etc.
  • Lead the development of a network with external experts to disseminate clinical data during pre- launch and launch and reinforce clinical awareness with Medical Experts, influencers, and key external customers.
  • Oversees field medical activities and ensures excellence in field medical execution.
  • Lead medical activities internally for the reimbursement of relevant products and ensure/ drive optimal collaboration with Access and Policy departments and ensure competency of Team members during reimbursement/negotiation procedures.
  • Ensures team adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements by fostering a culture of integrity, maintaining robust documentation practices, and proactively preparing for internal and external audits and monitoring activities.
  • Promote and maintain ethical standards of the Medical Team within the organization and in the interactions within the local Health Care Systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum degree acceptable: Medical doctor or Scientific degree with MSc or PhD in Life Sciences.  
  • Desirable degrees: Medical Specialization
  • Fluency in English (mandatory), Greek (desirable)                                                                                                

Experience:                                                                                          

  • More than 5 years’ experience in clinical medicine and/or research (highly desirable) and at least 3 years in the Pharma industry (required)
  • Knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas and scientific expertise (desirable)
  • Proven ability to successfully interact with relevant Medical Experts (required)
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of drug development, GCP and local regulations, including regulations for promotional materials.
  • Previous experience in people management (highly desirable)
  • Computer literacy essential
